Actors, singers needed for veteran tribute play
The Lake Nebagamon Armed Services Tribute is sponsoring an original play, "The Heroes Among Us." Actors, singers, musicians and dancers of all ages, particularly children, are needed to bring it to life. The show revolves around a VFW committee planning a Fourth of July celebration.
It will take audience members back in time from World War II to Afghanistan. Instead of the horrors of war, these stories focus on children and how members of the American military helped them. One true story involves Vietnam War veteran Keith Pollari. While serving in Vietnam, he saw the kids had little or no clothes or toys. Pollari wrote to a Wisconsin TV station and received a Christmas to remember.
The play will be performed Saturday, June 27, and will not involve a long rehearsal time.
Almost everyone will be able to practice on their own and then the group will all get together the final week before the show. This is a very relaxed program and is always just as much fun for the people on stage as it is for the audience, according to playwright Kay Coletta.
Proceeds from this show go toward the establishment of the Lake Nebagamon Armed Service Tribute.
Anyone interested in participating in any way can contact Coletta at 715-374-2283 after 1 p.m. any day or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
