Superior: The Women of the Moose Superior Chapter 795 host a Craft Fair & Bake Sale 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Moose Dining Room. There is no charge to attend. There will be a luncheon served at 11:30 a.m. for a nominal fee. Money raised from our events go to support the community and our children at Mooseheart and Seniors at Moosehaven.

Superior: A “Funky Junk” craft sale to benefit Amberwing runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Superior Middle School, 3626 Hammond Ave.


Duluth: Lake Superior Ragtime Society presents “April in Duluth” Ragtime Concert 1:30-4:30 p.m. at First Covenant Church, 2101 W. Superior: Job Club, a job seeker support group, meets 9-11 a.m. at the Job Center, 1805 N. 14th St., Suite 1. This week’s topic is “Resumes, Cover Letters and Follow up.” Free.

Brule: The annual meetings of the Waino Ever-rest Cemetery and the Waino Pioneer Chapel begin at 6 p.m. at the Brule Town Hall. There will be election of officers for both groups, and any business and plans will be discussed. Members are encouraged to attend.


Superior: Parents and grandparents are invited to a special workshop sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Extension of Douglas County. Sue DeNio, interim family and community support educator, gives tips for how to use children’s stories to teach children about important lifelong financial skills such as goal-setting, problem solving, and using resources during story time 10:30-11 a.m. in the Young Adult room adjoining the Children’s Department.

Superior: The Superior Public Library Board Personnel Committee meets at 3 p.m. and the Superior Public Library Board meets at 4 p.m., in the Board Room of the library at 1530 Tower Ave.

Maple: The Old Brule Heritage Society meets at 6 p.m. at the Maple Community Center, 11037 E. Highway 2 President Dennis Hill talks about how logging was done in the Old Brule area in the days before modern mechanization, and shows some of the tools used. Light refreshments served. The meeting follows the presentation and refreshments.


Duluth: The University of Minnesota Duluth host the Sigurd Olson Lecture Series from noon to 1 p.m. in the Kathryn A. Martin Library fourth floor rotunda. Mike Clark, who recently retired as the executive director of the Greater Yellowstone Coalition, will present “Yellowstone: More Valuable Than Gold.” Free.

Duluth: The Proctor-Duluth Cloquet, Iron Range, Superior Unit No. 92 of the National Association of Retired Veteran Railway Employees meets at 1 p.m. at the West Duluth American Legion clubrooms. Unit President Rick Olson invites area members rail retirees and spouses to attend.
