Animal camp offers education to youth

Animal Allies Humane Education Program is offering youth, ages 8-12 years old the opportunity to learn how to teach others about shelter animals through performance, song, poetry, and stories through an April 7-12 camp.

Have you ever watched a play where the main characters are two cats? Maybe the cats are really kids in cat costumes. The cats might talk. A shelter dog might tell the story of her life.

Animal Shelter Theater campers will research themes, write scripts, choose humans to play cats and dogs, cast cats and dogs to play themselves. Get to know the shelter animals, then share their stories in short performance pieces.

Animal Allies is offering six youth camps in 2014. Each camp goes from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m., M-F, and is $125 per session.

The camp sessions include:

• April 7-12 Animal Shelter Theater
