Cookies, donations welcome at women's gathering

Body:

Lee Downey, founder of Six Seasons Christian Riders, presents "Lessons Learned through Tragedy" at the Twin Ports Christian Women gathering.

Those attending are asked to bring up to two dozen cookies, bars or fudge to help with the group's annual Christmas goodie sale. Donations of paper towels, diapers, hygiene products and more are collected for Harbor House Crisis Shelters.

Downey, of Superior, founded Six Seasons Christian Riders in 1989. The international, evangelistic outreach ministry includes motorcycling, street rods, rodeos and other outdoor activities. Downey's ministry within the church helps young people discover God's will for their lives while discovering how to use their spiritual gifts and physical talents in God's kingdom work. Of course, life in Christ's service is not without tragedy, and Lee will share the lessons he has learned.

The gathering runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 12 at Barker's Island Inn, 300 Marina Drive.

Advance reservations and cancellations are due by Dec. 8. Call Lois at (715) 398-3175, or Minnie at (218) 626-2361. The cost is $14 and includes program, meal, tip and tax.
